LADY HAWKS WIN OPENER

Thursday, November 8 - The CSM women's basketball team won their opening game with a 99-31 win over Northern Virginia Community College.  The Hawks tenacious zone defense limited the Raiders to 13 points in the first half, as they jumped to a 44-13 lead.
The taller Hawks dominated the boards, led by Nikia Roper, Phonicia Washington, and Delayne Buckley.  CSM struggled some in the half court offense, but got numerous fast break opportunities and dominated the second half.
Nikia Roper led all scores with 23 points.  Megan "Showtime" Baskins added 21 along with some spectacular assists, and Delayne Buckley added 19.  Lilly Tahir led the Raiders with 11 points.
"It was a good win and the kids played hard", commented Hawks Head Coach Bob Pitts.

"We have some things to work on, and hopefully we'll have a better showing next game."
The Hawks next game will be Friday, November 16, when CSM entertains Potomac State.  Tip-off will be at 6:00 PM.
