LADY HAWKS FALL TO ALLEGANY Tuesday, December 3 - Poor shooting down the stretch did the CSM women's basketball team in, as they lost their MDJUCO season opener 54-47 to Allegany. The Hawks were only able to score three points in the final seven minutes, as the Trojans stretched a one point lead up to seven to secure the victory. CSM (1-3, 0-1) fell behind early, and trailed by nine with 7:00 left in the first half. The Hawks out scored Allegany (2-1) 18-5 over the final seven minutes to take a 31-27 halftime lead. CSM's full court pressure caused numerous turnovers, and the Hawks converted most of their opportunities to take the lead. With :53 seconds left in the half, tempers faired, and Allegany's Ashea Wingatebay was ejected along with CSM's Stacy Goldring. The second half remained tight through-out, as both teams were plagued by poor shooting and numerous turn-overs, until the Trojans were able to pull away in the final seven minutes. Ashley Gale led all scorer's with 26 pts. for Allegany. Stehnanie Breslin, Shanita McPherson, and Kristina Johnson each scored 10 pts. for the Hawks. The Lady Hawks will be in action again on Thursday, when they host Washington Bible at 4:30 PM. |
