OWLS FLY OVER LADY HAWKS Tuesday, January 7 - CSM jumped to an early lead, but the shorthanded Hawks were unable to hold it, and fell to Harford 83-67. Cheyann Gilroy led the Hawks with 26 points, and Ashley Becraft, in her first game back, added 15. CSM sprinted to an early 7-0 lead, and led 12-5 with just over 12 minutes left in the first half. But Harford (4-1) switched to a full course press, forcing the Hawks into numerous turnovers as the Owls went on a 20-5 run to grab the lead. CSM (2-7, 0-3) finally solved the press during the final 5:00 of the half and went on a 11-2 run to pull within five, 37-32 at the break. Harford opened the second half with a 18-6 run, and the Hawks could get no closer then seven points the rest of the game. The Owls full court pressure and offense rebounding finally wore the outmanned Hawks down. CSM was playing with only six players, and Stephanie Breslin spend most of the game on the bench with foul trouble, before fouling out with 9:17 left. Kristin Jasper led the Owls in scoring with 21 pts., and Shareice Galloway added 17. The Lady Hawks will travel to Takoma Park, Saturday, and Hagerstown on Monday before returning home on January 15 to face Baltimore at 7:00 PM. |
