LADY HAWKS FALL TO #20 CECIL

January 25, 2006 - The CSM women's basketball team stayed with #20 Cecil for most of the first half, before falling 69-48.

The first fourteen minutes of the first half were close, with several ties and lead changes.  Shannon Wilson's three point shot pulled the Hawks to within one at 20-19 with 7:25 left in the half, but that was as close as CSM would come the rest of the night.  The Seahawks went on a 8-0 run to pull in front 28-19, before back to back baskets by Christina Simms pulled the Hawks to within five at 28-23.  Cecil (16-2, 8-1) then went on a 5-0 run to close the half and led 36-25 at the break.

The Seahawks steadily pulled away from CSM (8-12, 4-6) in the second half on the way to the 69-48 win.  Ramona Latorre led a balanced Cecil attack with 15 points, Kenetta Kelly had 14 pts., and Monique Stephens and Alexis Stoudemire each had 12 pts.

For the Hawks, Christina Simms led all scorers with 16 points., Shannon Wilson had 12pts., and Brittany Vines had 10 pts, and Christine Johnson had 9 pts.

CSM's next game will be at Homecoming on Saturday, January 28, when the Lady Hawks face undefeated Prince George's, ranked #16 in the country,  at 5:30 PM.
