HAWKS RUN OUT OF GAS, FALL TO LIONS
January 29, 2007 -
In a game that was closer then the final
score, the CSM women's basketball team fell to Dundalk 78-64.
Christine Johnson led the Hawks with 17 points, and Brittany Vines and Katie
Kidd each had 14 points.
The game was tight for the first ten minutes, with neither team able to take
more then a five point lead. Dundalk (11-9, 8-2) slowly pulled away
over the last ten minutes of the half, to take a 43-33 lead at halftime.
CSM (8-10, 4-6) was hampered by foul trouble, with three players each having
three first half fouls in the tightly called contest.
The second half was a game of spurts, with Dundalk going on a run, and the
Hawks closing the gap. After the Lions had opened a fourteen point
lead, CSM closed the gap to four, 47-43, when Katie Kidd hit one of two free
throws with 15:48 left to play.
After Dundalk had extended their lead once again, CSM again had an answer as
Shannon Wilson hit a three pointer to cut the lead to four, 63-59, with 5:45
left. However the exhausted Hawks weren't able to answer the final
Dundalk spurt and fell 78-64.
Christina Barnes led the Lions with 22 points, and Ronda Shelly had 18 pts.
The Hawks have two more home games this week, hosting Chesapeake tomorrow
night at 5:00 PM, and Harford Friday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 PM.
