FORMER HAWK KALEE SMITH EXCELS AT PFEIFFER UNIVERSITY

January 24, 2007 - Former CSM women's basketball Kalee Smith is picking up right where she left off last year and is having an outstanding season as a junior forward on the Pfeiffer University women's basketball team.

Last season at CSM (2005-06), Kalee led the Hawks in scoring, rebounding, and free throw percentage, as she averaged 16.8 points and 12.4 rebounds per game, and shot 80% from the free throw line.  Despite missing seven games with a wrist injury, Kalee was the leading rebounder 17 times, and led the team in scoring in 11 games last season.  She was selected Second Team All Region XX.

This season Smith is putting together another fine season for the Falcons.  She has started all 16 games, and has helped lead Pfeiffer to a 12-4 record this season.  She leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.4 per game, and in shooting percentage, hitting 57.5% of her shots.  Kalee is second on the team in assists, with 38, and second in free throw percentage at 78.6%.

In her last game, Kalee scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead Pfeiffer to a 79-74 win over St. Andrew's Presbyterian, and earn Pfeiffer a tie for second place in the Carolinas - Virginia Athletic Conference.
