WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WRAP-UP
March 6, 2007 -
The women's basketball defeated Frederick
65-63 in the first round of the Region XX Tournament. Chris Velez hit
two free throws with 3.5 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Hawks.
In the quarterfinals the Hawks lost to eventual champion Potomac State
91-57.
The Hawks finished the season
15-12, their best record in five years.
Brittany Vines, Christine Johnson and Shannon Wilson were selected to play
in the All-Star game. Vines had eight points and seven rebounds,
Johnson scored five points, and Wilson scored two points and also won the
three point shooting contest.
