LADY HAWKS FALL TO 6th RANKED HAGERSTOWN

January 25, 2007 - The CSM women's basketball team fell to undefeated Hagerstown, ranked 6th in the country, 88-68.

Chantal Hebron led all scorers with 25 points, and Tanya Sites added 15 points for CSM.  Latoya Buckner led Hagerstown with 20 points.

It looked like Hagerstown would run away with the game in the early going, as they raced to an early 9-0 lead.  CSM slowly chipped away at the lead, and Chantal Hebron's two free throws put CSM ahead 12-11 with 13:39 to play.

Shushanna Faulkner hit a three pointer to regain the lead for Hagerstown, 14-12, but Brooke Martin answered with a basket to tie the game at 14-14 with 11:30 left in the first half.

Hagerstown (18-0, 9-0) went on a 34-14 run to end the first half, capped by Lindsey Smith's three pointer at the buzzer from just inside half court, to take a 48-28 led at the break.

In the second half CSM (6-11, 1-7) was able to cut the lead to 14 pts. twice.  Chris Velez's three pointer cut the Hagerstown lead to 76-62 with 4:44 to play, and Katie Kidd fed Chantal Hebron for a lay-up trimming the margin to 80-66 with 2:30 to play, but that was as close as CSM could get.

CSM begins a four game road trip on January 29 when they travel to Valley Forge.  CSM plays their final home game of the year Feb. 14 when they host Salem, NJ.
