WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS FIRST GAME
October 5, 2005 -
The CSM women's soccer team finally broke
their drought of close losses without a win, and tasted victory for the
first time as they defeated Allegany 2-0.
The Hawks got what proved to be the winning goal ten minutes into the game,
when Brooke Good received a pass from Zehra Oztas and found net as CSM took
a 1-0 lead. The Hawks dominated play, out shooting Allegany 16-0 for
the half. Allegany goalkeeper Alasha Rush keep the shorthanded Trojans, who
were playing with just ten players, in the game making 15 saves. The
Trojans fell to 5-4, 1-4 on the year.
CSM (1-5-1, 1-4) again scored early in the second half, when Zehra Oztas
broke free down the right side and scored with 35:40 left in the game to put
the Hawks up 2-0. CSM continued to pepper the Allegany goal with
shots, and ended up out shooting the Trojans 25-0. Katie Goddard
recorded her first shut-out for the Hawks.
The Lady Hawks conclude their home stand on Saturday, when they face Anne
Arundel at noon on Harvest Homecoming.
