LADY HAWKS FALL TO #7 CATONSVILLE 4-0
October 12, 2005 -
On a cloudy cool fall day, the CSM women's
soccer team faced the seventh ranked team in the country, Catonsville, and
came up short, losing 4-0.
Nine minutes into the game Kristin McLaughlin fed Kandee Schroeder on the
left side, who chipped the ball in from 15 yards out to put the Cardinals up
1-0. Catonsville (9-1-1, 5-0) took a 2-0 lead with 20:28 to play in
the first half when Sara Schmidt knocked in a rebound during a scramble in
front of the Hawk net.
Another rebound hurt CSM (1-6-1, 1-5), as Jen Witowski's shot hit the top
post and came back to McLaughlin, who headed the ball past Hawk keeper Katie
Goddard to put Catonsville up 3-0 with 30:46 left in the game. The
final goal came with 6:48 left, when Katie Goddard dove to block a
Catonsville shot, but Raketa Russell was able to control the rebound and
poke the ball into the Hawk net.
Catonsville had the edge in field position, and out shot CSM 12-0.
Katie Goddard made eight saves for the Hawks.
The Lady Hawks' next game will be Friday, Oct. 14 at Harford (3:00 PM).
