TIM MAJOR HIRED AS WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH
July 13, 2005 - Tim Major has been hired as Head Women's Soccer Coach at the College of Southern Maryland. He replaces Jerry Bennett, who resigned due to increased job responsibilities. Bennett had been Head Coach since 2002, and had gone 17-28-1 over the past three years.
Tim Major comes to CSM from Thomas Stone High School, where he was the Head Girls Varsity Coach in 2004. The Cougars went 6-3 in conference play, and made it to the Region Quarterfinals, before losing 3-2 to a nationally ranked team. Among the accomplishments last season were setting the school scoring record, and coaching the first All-State Player selected from Thomas Stone.
Previously, Major coached a select girls team in Waldorf for 10 seasons. His teams went undefeated three times, and had just one loss in two other years. Major's teams had a 22 game undefeated streak during that time. His teams won five league titles, four tournaments, and finished second three times. Major also coached six All-SMAC players.
