Philosophy
The philosophy of the physical therapist assistant program is to promote
excellence in education of the student to produce a practitioner who is
a competent and compassionate physical therapist assistant able to utilize skills
of critical thinking and problem solving in the clinical setting. Learning
is a two-way process in which both the student and instructor take
responsibility for the learning objectives. Effective communication
between instructors, students, patients and their families and other health care
professionals will be emphasized. The combined resources and diverse
populations of the Chesapeake Area Consortium for Higher Education will provide
excellence in physical therapist assistant education.
Mission
The mission of the physical therapist assistant program is to graduate
students who become competent, caring practitioners within the profession of
physical therapy.
Goals
Graduates will:
- Be effective communicators and educators.
- Be responsible members of the community.
- Utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills in their clinical
performance.
- Base their practice on sound ethical values.
