Financial assistance, bookstore voucher and changes in your credit hours...

Students receiving financial assistance for any semester and having credit on their student account, may use these funds to purchase books.  To do so you go to the Bursar's Office and request a bookstore voucher.  You then take that to the bookstore.  To determine if you have credit on you account, contact the Bursar's Office.

*****

Changes in your credit hours after you receive a bookstore voucher could affect the amount of financial assistance you receive.  Any change in your financial assistance could lead to the college dropping all of your classes. For more information contact:  FAD at the numbers below:  La Plata   301 934 7531, Leonardtown 240 725 5300, Prince Frederick   443 550 6000

Dropped classes:  Your financial assistance awards are posted on the “express services” beginning June. If you do not have a financial assistance determination by August 1 you must pay your bill in-full, join the FACTS payment plan or your classes will be dropped.

Answers to your questions about the 20% down payment to CSM for fall 2007 and applying for Financial Assistance for the 2007-08 year

If CSM has received your FAFSA information for the 2007-08 year you will be protected from making a 20% down payment when you register.  To determine if the FAFSA information is here:  You go to “do it online/express services” and log in.  Then look in “financial assistance folder” under “my documents”.  If you see ‘07-08 FAFSA Import to Coll’ then you don't need to worry about the down payment.  As always, should you have questions, please contact FAD at 301 934 7531.

HOWEVER, once August 1 arrives, you are responsible for paying you account.  Any charges not covered by financial assistance must be paid.  To avoid confusion check your account often for the charges, what is paid by financial assistance and what is owed.

Please remember to update your demographic information (name, phone number, address) so important FAD information may be sent to you when necessary.  This may be done by going to the following site: https://express.csmd.edu/demochgform_print.pdf
