Make a Difference
Are YOU willing to allow the U.S. to lag behind other global economies in the fields of science, math and technology? Students in our community must be encouraged and challenged to study and develop careers in these fields to ensure our future. CSM is establishing an Institute for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (ISTEM) to prepare for the future workforce.
Funds will be used to:
- develop a pipeline of science, engineering, math and technical students through increased outreach programs in middle and high schools;
- provide instructional technology and equipment in labs at all three campuses, including the newly renovated 60,000-square-foot Science and Technology Building on the La Plata Campus;
- provide more local transfer opportunities with colleges and universities;
- address the math achievement rates by offering seminars and summer math institutes for K-12 math teachers led by CSM faculty.
