CSM Foundation Endowed Scholarships

Albert Elder Memorial Scholarship

Calvert County 350th Anniversary Celebration Scholarship

Established in 2005 by the Calvert County Commissioners, this scholarship will provide financial assistance in the form of tuition and books to Calvert County residents who plan to study the social sciences with an emphasis in history or anthropology.

Calvert County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2002 by the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce, this scholarship will provide financial assistance to Calvert County residents studying business related majors at CSM.

Castles and Foundations Scholarship Endowment

Established in 1999 by Janet and Mick Donahue, this scholarship provides tuition, fees and books assistance in varying amounts to a resident of St. Mary’s County with financial need.

Christopher Chinault Scholarship Endowment

Several scholarships are awarded each year to students enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing program at CSM.

Clifford J. and Marion L. McAllister Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2006 by the friends and family of Clifford J. and Marion L. McAllister, this endowment fund provides needs-based tuition assistance for CSM students requiring childcare to attend the St. Charles Children’s Learning Center.

Debra L. Wyvill Teacher Education Scholarship Endowment

Established by Debra Wyvill in 2004, this fund will provide scholarships in varying amounts for tuition, fees and books to CSM students pursuing a Teacher Education degree whose primary residence is Calvert County

Dr. Nallan Ramakrishna Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2003 by Dr. Nallan Ramakrishna, the Dr. Nallan Ramkrishna Scholarship will provide financial assistance in the form of tuition, fees and books to CSM students.

Ed Matthews Jr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2001 by the family and friends of Ed Matthews, Jr., this scholarship will provide financial assistance in the form of tuition, fees and books for a Charles County resident who is currently enrolled or who intends to enroll at CSM

Helen and Henry Lawlor Scholarship

Established through gifts from the family and friends of Helen and Henry Lawlor by Christ Church, Port Tobacco Parish, this scholarship provides up to $1,000 for an academic year toward the cost of tuition, fees and required books.

Helen J. Todd Trust

This trust provides financial assistance for two academic years to students who demonstrate financial need and have a 3.0 minimum grade point average in high school. Preference is given to students who have graduated from Lackey High School.

J. Ivey Cline Scholarship Endowment

Established in the memory of J. Ivey Cline, this award may be used toward tuition, fees, books and supplies.

James C. Mitchell Nursing Scholarship Endowment

Established in the will of Judge James C. Mitchell, this award is made to a student entering the Associate Degree Nursing degree program at CSM. This scholarship varies in amounts for an academic year, usable for tuition, fees and books. Recipients must be Charles County residents.

Joanne Zwick Memorial Scholarship Endowment

This award offers a variable amount of assistance (usually $600-700 per year) to a second-year nursing student at CSM.

Joseph F. Rice and Mae Irene Fauth Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Established by the estate of Dr. Mae Fauth, this award offers up to $2,000 toward the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies for the sophomore year to an outstanding freshman majoring in the humanities.

L.K. Farrall III Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Established by the family of L.K. Farrall III, this scholarship is awarded in varying amounts toward the cost of tuition, fees, books and supplies. Applicants must be Charles County residents. Applicants must also be from a single parent family, demonstrate financial need, and have at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA for prior study.

Louis P. Jenkins, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2006, this endowed scholarship fund is for students who plan to or are enrolled full-time or part-time in an academic program and reside in the tri-county area (Charles, Calvert, St. Mary’s). Scholarship awards are based on financial need.

Marrick Properties Scholarship

Established to support the cost of tuition, books and fees for students pursuing careers in construction trades.

Mary Croft Ward Scholarship Endowment

Established in the will of Mary Croft Ward, this award provides varying amounts of assistance to students residing in the third election District of Charles County, which includes Nanjemoy and other parts of southwest Charles County.

Matthew William Hancock Music Scholarship

Established in 1988 in memory of Matthew W. Hancock, this award is presented to a Charles County resident majoring in music or music education at the College of Southern Maryland.

Maurice J. McDonough Scholarship Endowment

Established by the Trustees of the McDonough Charity School, this scholarship offers financial assistance in the form of tuition, fees, books or supplies, to residents of the McDonough District in Charles County who are currently enrolled or who intend to enroll at CSM.

McWilliams Family Endowment Fund

This endowed fund was established by the McWilliams family to support the purchase of nursing equipment, programming and scholarships.

Russell Gordon Croft Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2000 by Gordon Croft, this scholarship provides tuition, fees, books, or supplies, as the individual case may dictate to first year CSM students from the southern part of Charles County, defined as south of Route 225 from La Plata to Mason Springs and south of Route 6 from La Plata to the St. Mary’s County line.

St. Mary’s County Government Scholarship Fund

Established in 2006, this scholarship provides financial assistance in the form of tuition and books to St. Mary’s County residents who demonstrate financial need, as determined by the CSM Foundation

Thomas F. Goldsmith III Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship will provide financial assistance in the form of tuition, fees and books for nursing students at CSM. Preference will be given to Charles County residents who are a Waldorf Elk member, spouse, or child.

Veterans Educational Scholarship Endowment

Established by the Friends for Tim Hutchins in 2005, this fund will be used to provide scholarships and to pay for books for veterans pursuing studies in the field of criminal justice and homeland security.

Walter Grove II Memorial Art Scholarship Endowment

Established by the family and friends of Walter Grove II, this scholarship provides financial assistance to students of CSM from Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties who will study art at CSM.

We Salute Our Troops – Desert Storm Scholarship

Established in 1991 by Operation Support for Desert Storm Families, this scholarship offers varying amounts for attendance at CSM to Charles County residents who are Desert Storm veterans.

William D. Bauer Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2005 by Bolton & Associates, LLC, this scholarship will provide financial assistance to working adults pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Land Planning, Land Surveying or related field.

Wm. B. and Vivian M. King Scholarship Endowment

Established in the will of William and Vivian King, this scholarship endowment fund provides scholarships in varying amounts for tuition, fees, books and supplies to full and part-time students from Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties.

William Lyon Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Established in 2001 by the family of William Lyon, this scholarship will provide financial assistance in the form of tuition, fees and books for students enrolled in the vocational trades.

Neale Chaney Slater Memorial Endowment Fund

Established in August 2006, this endowment fund provides scholarships to students graduating from Leonard Hall Junior Naval Academy in Leonardtown, Maryland. Consideration shall be given to students enrolling in Fire Science Technology and Criminal Justice programs at CSM.

Renee Munday Math Scholarship

Established in 2006 by family, friends and college employees, this scholarship shall be made regardless of financial need to non-traditional aged students residing in Charles County enrolled at CSM as a part-time student.

CSM Foundation Annual Scholarships

ADF Community Outreach Scholarship

This scholarship will provide financial assistance in the form of tuition to children who wish to attend Kid’s College at all CSM Campuses. To be eligible for assistance, the student must enroll in the CSM Kid’s College during the summer session and must demonstrate financial need.

Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship was initiated in 1986, with a donation from William Daniel Mayer and Nabisco Brands. The alumni scholarship is based on academic excellence, activities and need.

Bill Wood Memorial Scholarship

Established by the college Spanish Club, Circulo Hispanico, this scholarship offers tuition assistance for Spanish courses only.

Calvert County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Established in 2005, this annual scholarship will provide tuition assistance to Calvert County residents demonstrating financial need.

Cravat Memorial Scholarship

Established by the estate of Harland and Lulu Cravat, these awards are available in varying amounts to Charles County residents attending CSM on at least a half-time basis.

Fanny Louise Sullivan Sine Henderson Scholarship

Established through private contributions and fundraisers held by Women on Campus, this award may be used toward full-time or part-time pursuit of a degree or certificate at the La Plata Campus.

Jack Love Sprague Scholarship

Established in 2005 by the family of Jack Love Sprague, this scholarship will provide financial assistance to a CSM student in his/her second year of study in the college’s Physical Therapist Assistance Program.

Janie Schultz Collins Scholarship

Established in 2005 by Janie Schultz-Collins, this scholarship will provide financial assistance in the form of tuition and books for nursing students reside in Charles or St. Mary’s County. The recipient must have served in a local 4-H club in Charles or St. Mary’s County and must demonstrate financial need.

LaVerda Francis and Richard Blair Scholarship

Established in 2006, this scholarship provides financial assistance in the form of assistance towards tuition, fees, books and other required supplies. To eligible, the student must attend classes on a full-time basis, reside in Calvert County, demonstrated financial need, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (high school or college transcript must accompany application) and demonstrate a commitment to community service.

The Leonardtown Student Association Kick-Off Scholarship

Established in 2005, this annual scholarship provides financial assistance to students who attend the Leonardtown Kick Off to College Event.

Nu Zeta Omega Scholarship of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Established in 2006, this scholarship provides financial assistance in the form of tuition, fees, books or supplies as the individual case may dictate to tri-county residents enrolled in the teacher’s education program.

Rebekah Boone and Vivian Edelen Scholarship Fund

Established in 2007, this scholarship will provide financial assistance in the form of tuition, fees and books for academic excellence to a CSM student enrolled full-time in the second year of the college’s Teacher Education program.

Robert Wade Sibole Scholarship

Established in 2005 by Mr. Robert Wade Sibole, this scholarship will provide financial assistance to CSM students, for tuition and books, who demonstrate financial need.

Shani-Jinaki Whipple Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2005 by the family and friends Shani-Jinaki Whipple, this scholarship will provide financial assistance in the form of tuition, fees and books for a physically disabled student residing in Calvert, Charles or St. Mary’s County who are currently enrolled or who intend to enroll at CSM.

St. Mary’s County Health Department Scholarship

In fall 2005, the St. Mary’s County Health Department established this scholarship program to assist students in Allied Health degree and certificate programs. Scholarships will be awarded to CSM students currently residing in St Mary’s County. Scholarships will be awarded to students beginning in the spring 2006 semester.

Prince Frederick Campus Scholarship

Established in 2006 by the Prince Frederick Student Association, this scholarship is for the purpose of providing one $500 scholarship each semester.

Charles County Technology Council Scholarship

Established in 2006, the purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students studying math and science with tuition, fees and books. Students must reside in Charles County, plan to enroll or be enrolled at CSM.

40/8 Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to second year nursing students enrolled at CSM on at least a part-time basis. Students must reside in Charles, Calvert or St. Mary’s counties.
