Admission Procedures

Admission Requirements for PN/ADN Clinical Nursing Programs

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA in high school or in college (with at least 12 college credits)
  • College Skills Survey scores at the ENG 1010 and MTH 1100 levels and placement out of Reading; or completion of the appropriate developmental courses to achieve these levels
  • ACT (American College Test) composite raw score of 20 or better or SAT composite score of 950 for critical reading and math (ACT/SAT scores are considered current for five years)

Application Procedure

  1. Complete college admissions procedures.
  2. Take the College's Skills Survey test at your earliest convenience by making an appointment at the Testing Center at any of the college's campuses.
  3. If you have completed college credits elsewhere, contact the Admissions Office to complete a "Request for Transcript Evaluation" form. Submit a separate form for every college you have attended you wish to transfer credits.
  4. Take the ACT or SAT. Information about preparing for the test may be obtained from the Testing Center at any of the college's campuses. CSM test site codes: ACT code 01965 www.actstudent.org and SAT code 5144 www.collegeboard.com. Registration is direct.
  5. Submit a petition to enter the clinical nursing program to the nursing and allied health advisor in the Nursing and Allied Health Technology Department on the La Plata Campus. Petitions to enter the nursing program for the fall semester must be submitted by January 15 of the same year. Petitions to enter the nursing program for the spring semester must be submitted by June 15 of the prior year. A new petition is required for each admission cycle. The Nursing and Health Technology Department does not maintain a waiting list.
