Program: Fire Science Technology Associate of Applied Science
All-hazards personnel/firefighters respond to a variety of emergencies where life, property, and environment are at risk. The Fire Science Technology (FST) program prepares graduates to function as career and volunteer fire service personnel with an all-hazards approach. The program also provides the degree associated with advancement for career personnel currently employed as all-hazards personnel/firefighters.

Students complete their general education requirements at CSM and Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI) provides their professional training at sites in Southern Maryland.

Specific admissions requirements
Students are required to provide proof of immunization status, a completed health form, and a criminal background check at the student's expense. Students may be required to provide proof of health insurance and a negative drug screen at the request of agencies and at the student's expense.

FIREFIGHTER, AMBULANCE & RESCUE SQUAD MEMBER TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM
To qualify for the reimbursement program, an individual must be a Maryland resident, a career or active volunteer firefighter, ambulance or rescue squad member serving a Maryland community and must attend a Maryland postsecondary institution (college) that offers courses leading to a degree in fire service or emergency medical technology. The purpose of this tuition reimbursement program is to encourage members of firefighting, ambulance, and rescue organizations serving Maryland communities to improve their professional skills by reimbursing them for the tuition costs of courses leading to a degree in fire service or emergency medical technology.
In exchange for tuition reimbursement, applicants must agree to serve a Maryland community as a career or volunteer firefighter or ambulance and rescue squad member while taking courses and continue to serve one year after the courses for which reimbursement is to be received.
