For our engineering students, CSM offers a special transfer partnership with the University of Maryland, College Park and the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) located at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in
St. Mary’s County, as well as a cooperative education opportunity with the Indian Head Naval Surface Warfare Center (IHNSWC). As students transition to the University of Maryland program, they will have the opportunity to work on base and build real-world experience while earning their BS degrees in engineering. Junior- and senior-level courses are taught locally
at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center.
NUCLEAR ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY:
Qualified Nuclear Engineering Technology students will be eligible to intern at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant for one summer semester as part of the cooperative education experience.
Students must meet specific academic and personal background standards prior to registration for program cooperative education course(s). Students are required to undergo a criminal
background check and drug screening prior to the cooperative education experience.
