Languages and Literature is establishing a CSM chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta, the National English Honor Society.

  

Faculty  members are asked to help identify students to become charter members of CSM’s ΣΚΔ Chapter.

 

 

 

Eligibility

Membership in Sigma Kappa Delta is not restricted to English majors. Eligible students must have (1) completed a minimum of one college course (excluding developmental courses) in English language or literature; (2) completed at least twelve semester hours at CSM; and (3) have no grade lower than a B in a CSM English course.  Eligible students from all CSM campuses and centers are encouraged to apply.

 

Advantages

  • Leadership:  Opportunities are available at the chapter and national level.
  • Scholarship and information: Members receive national society publications and opportunity to submit to ΣΚΔ publications. 
  • Networking: Members attend scholarly presentations, meetings, conventions. They strengthen friendships and connections with CSM Chapter members.  The CSM chapter initially will meet once monthly.
  • Awards and Recognition: Chapter members are eligible for scholarships and awards.  Membership will be acknowledged in CSM publications and activities.

 

The Process

Application is easy, and the first ten charter memberships will be paid for by the CSM Foundation.  The Membership Fee of $40 includes $30 to the National Sigma Kappa Delta office and $10 for the CSM Chapter.
