Emergency Medical Services
People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of Emergency Medical Technicians and paramedics.
CSM’s Emergency Medical Services Associate of Applied Science degree program prepares graduates to provide this critical emergency pre-hospital medical care to those who have sustained potentially life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
Completion of CSM’s Paramedic Certificate program qualifies graduates to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (NREMT-P) examinations.
This course prepares competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels. Instruction includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical training in a variety of pre-hospital and hospital settings.
This program follows the National Education Guidelines developed by the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Graduates are employed in settings associated with emergent patient care such as hospitals, emergency and urgent care centers, fire and rescue squads, ambulance services and agencies, and similar organizations. A major objective of CSM’s practicum experience is to apply classroom theory to the work environment.

This program follows the National Education Standards developed by the United States Department of Transportation. Graduates are employed in settings associated with emergent patient care such as hospitals, emergency and urgent care centers, fire and rescue squads, ambulance services agencies, and similar organizations.
Students must hold current paramedic certification for entry into this program. Students entering this program with an EMT-I or EMT-P earned through another institution may be required to take a transition course.

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is an entry level provider capable of transporting sick and injured patients. The EMT is the basic level needed on every ambulance nationwide. This program prepares the graduate for entry into emergency medical services and healthcare. The courses provide the lecture, lab, and practicum education needed for certification as an EMT-B.
