AUT-6080 Fundamentals of Auto Mechanics - Part 1

This course introduces the student to the profession of auto mechanics. The professions that are available within the automobile industry will be discussed. Safety fundamentals in the automotive industry including the proper use of hand and power tools and equipment are covered. Additional topics will include: design, construction, and application of engine components; cooling systems; tool identification and use; lubrication systems; engine tests and measurements; fuel systems; and an introduction to electrical system fundamentals. Textbook required.

AUT-6090 Fundamentals of Auto Mechanics - Part 2

This training will build in the concepts covered in Fundamentals of Auto Mechanics - Part 1. This portion of automotive training will cover: fuel injection systems, fuel supply and carburetors, exhaust systems, an introduction to emission systems, charging and starting systems, brakes, and transmissions/transaxles. Automotive shop safety and proper use of tools and equipment will be stressed in each exercise. Textbook required.
