Network Administrators install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system. They monitor the network to ensure there is availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.

ITS-7910 CompTIA Security+

CompTIA Security+ is for you if your job responsibilities include securing network services, network devices, and network traffic. Prepare for the CompTIA Security+ Certification examination by building on your knowledge and professional experience with computer hardware, operating systems, and networks. Topics include communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, authentication, access control, external attack, and operational and organizational security. Successful students have networking and administrative skills in Windows-based Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networks and familiarity with other operating systems. This course will help students prepare for the CompTIA Security+ certification.

Prerequisite:  Two years of technical networking experience with an emphasis on security and Network+ certification recommended.

ITS-7860 Cisco CCNA, ICND1

Students interested in entering the networking field will learn the CCNA foundational topics. Learn the skills and knowledge necessary to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small branch office Enterprise network, including configuring a switch, a router, and connecting to a WAN and implementing network security. Students should be able to complete configuration and implementation of a small branch office network under supervision. This course will help students prepare for ICND 1 Exam for the CCENT certification. Textbook required.

Prerequisite: Basic computer literacy, basic PC operating system navigation skills, basic internet usage skills, and basic IP addressing knowledge.
