Interior Decorating

The Interior Decorator continuing education certificate is specifically created to offer a detailed overview of interior decorating and design to provide students with the necessary skills to compete successfully for an entry level position in the interior decorating and design job market.

  • HGC-8020 Application of Interior Decorating and Design

HGC-8000 Introduction to Interior Decorating and Design

Interior Decorating and Design program is specifically created to offer a detailed overview of interior decorating and design in a short time frame.  Instructor will use both online learning as well as regular classroom sessions to provide students with the necessary skills to compete successfully for an entry level position in the interior decorating and design job market. The Interior Decorating and Design program will provide the maximum benefit to students interested in decorating or in enhancing their existing skills. Topics that will be covered include history of interior design, evolution of design styles, working with colors and the principles used in color palettes, and understanding floor plans and furniture placement. A manual will be provided to all students and is included in the cost of the class.  Additional class materials are required and must be purchased by the student.  A material list of all design tools will be given out on the first day of class and the cost is approximately $50.  Student will use these materials for all interior decorating and design courses in the series.

HGC-8010 Interior Decorating and Design II

Interior Decorating and Design program is specifically created to offer a detailed overview of interior decorating and design in a short time frame. Instructor will use both online learning as well as regular classroom sessions to provide students with the necessary skills to compete successfully for an entry level position in the interior decorating and design job market. The Interior Decorating and Design program will provide the maximum benefit to students interested in decorating or in enhancing their existing skills. Topics that will be covered include using textiles, how to determine design styles, and obtaining trade procurement. A student manual will be provided to all students.

HGC-8020 Application of Interior Decorating and Design

Interior Decorating and Design program is specifically created to offer a detailed overview of interior decorating and design in a short time frame.  Instructor will use both online learning as well as regular classroom sessions to provide students with the necessary skills to compete successfully for an entry level position in the interior decorating and design job market. The Interior Decorating and Design program will provide the maximum benefit to students interested in decorating or in enhancing their existing skills. Topics that will be covered include the basics of accessorizing, the many uses of lighting and preparing impactful client presentations. In Application of Decorating and Design, students will be participating in hands-on practicum working on interior design projects outside of class.  A schedule for practicum assignments will be discussed during class.
