During the competition, teams must appear before three panels of judges to be judged for the different awards. Parents and mentors are not permitted to assist the team members during these judging sessions. Each of these sessions is 10 minutes long including time for questions and answers from the judges.
In this session, the team will be judged on the engineering aspect of their robot. The panel of judges made up of professional engineers will ask questions about their robot and its design. Team may also be asked to demonstrate their robot performing certain mission.
Team will present the result of their research project to the panel of judges made up of professional working in the field related to the research project. Teams are encourage to use creative ways to present their results. Plan on having a five-minutes presentation to allow time for the judges to ask follow-up questions. One parent or mentor will be allowed to come into the room during this session for the sole purpose of taking picture or video of the team.
In this session, the judges will be looking to judge the team dynamic. Teams will be given an engineering-related task to complete while the judges observe them.
