Alternative Spring Break

Alternative Spring Break is a five-day trip, held March 15-21, 2008, to YMCA of the Redwoods, Camp Campbell in Boulder Creek, CA. YMCA Camp Campbell Outdoor Science School (CCOSS) is a residential outdoor education program for 5th & 6th grade students. We will be volunteer cabin leaders to assist staff of credentialed teachers in educating 5th & 6th grade students.

 

  • Costs:

The cost to participate in the CSM Alternative Spring Break Program is $475.00. This cost is a CSM cost to pay for your plane ticket from the Washington area to California. Camp Campbell does NOT charge individuals who wish to volunteer at the camp. The entire program cost is due with your applications, however, upon successful completion of the program, all CSM students will be reimbursed $225.00 from the college.

  • Who can participate?

Any student that is enrolled in a credit course(s) at CSM for the Spring 2008 semester may apply to participate in this program.  

  • How do I participate?

To participate, please submit the following to the Center for Civic Engagement and Service-Learning (CC 101, La Plata Campus) no later than 5 pm on Friday, December 7, 2007:

There are a limited number of spaces available for the Alternative Spring Break trip; therefore please turn in your CSM application and Camp Campbell application and $475.00 payment for your airline ticket at your earliest convenience by the deadline of Friday, December 7, 2007. Students will be selected from the applications submitted by the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.  Selected participants will be expected to  attend the Alternative Spring Break Training on a date to be determined.
