Smoking Stinks

Even the Skunks came out to help endorse Kick Butts Day!!

La Plata Campus
On Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008, S.T.O.P.S. teamed up with Wellness, Fitness, and Sports to kick out America's Most Wanted killer! Chalk body outlines and chalk talk could be found all around campus warning students and staff about the dangers of smoking. In addition, we had activities to promote cessation which included:

  • Amy Hoyt, Wellness Specialist, ran a relay course
  • Smoker's step test (w/ coffee straws)
  • Mini slam-dunk contest

February 1st, 2008

The Maryland Clean Air Act of 2007 prohibits smoking in virtually all indoor workplaces.

People in Maryland will now have clean, smoke-free air while working, dining, shopping, or relaxing throughout the state.

Guess the # of Butts in the Barrel

Congratulations to Don Smith, Professor of Mathematics and Physics, as he correctly guessed the # of Butts in the Barrel at the Fall Festival on September 19th, 2007.  Don's correct guess won him a FREE LUNCH at Applebees!
