Who Can Come?

All CSM students are invited to attend any workshop they find valuable to their academic success, free of charge.

How Does It Work?

Signing up is preferred, but not necessary.

Why Show Up?

The objective of SSC workshops is to answer a need we see and hear from students, staff, and faculty. We encourage students to be active learners, to recognize factors that influence your learning, and to share any individual issues in which you require assistance with the workshop leaders.

Workshop Offerings

Workshop offerings will vary.  If a workshop you would like to attend is not scheduled, contact your campus Student Success Coordinator to let them know of your interest.  You may also be interested in our online offerings. Online workshops may cover additional topics than our regular workshops.  Contact your campus Student Success Coordinator if you are interested in any of the following online workshops:

Time Management

Approaches to better appreciate the importance of time management, mainly associated with improved study skills.  Presentation duration: 30 minutes

Learning Styles

Based on Neil Fleming's VAK model, this demonstration aids students in pinpointing their learning styles. Presentation duration: 30 minutes

Notetaking Skills

Learn the importance of a good set of notes. Discover, recollect, and review customary and innovative strategies, simple activities and cues to take, maintain, and utilize proper notes.  Examine the repository of information and resources currently available to CSM students.

Midterm Makeover

Strategies to help turn the semester around after a rough start or a recent slump.  There is still time to make positive changes for what remains of this semester as well as put things in place for next semester.

Special Requests

Student Success Center Coordinators can tailor lectures and presentations to fit your needs. We are happy to work with college staff and student leaders to provide training workshops especially configured for a program, event, or population. You may submit your request by email to at least 3 weeks in advance to allow adequate time to arrange a presenter. Expect to receive confirmations of your request via e-mail.

Planning for Presenters

There are particular periods during the school year when Student Success Center Coordinators’ availability is restricted. Consequently, your preparation and consideration during the following times are greatly appreciated:

  • The first 2-3 weeks of each semester
  • Winter, spring or fall breaks
