Description:

This course is designed to teach children the positive impact of exercise in the water and as a helpful tool for lifetime fitness and health. The class consists of health education in the form of lecture, discussion, question and answer, and handouts in the topic areas of: nutrition, water safety, cardiovascular health, joint fitness, muscle tone, balance, and the physiological and cognitive benefits of exercise. The students participate in guided health activities, aquatic instruction, and aquatic exercise during the class. Instructors demonstrate and explain the health benefits of each type of aquatic activity prior to introducing it in class.
