Marketing and Communications

The Marketing and Communications Department (MAR-COM) advances the mission of the college by developing and implementing clear, consistent, engaging, and multi-faceted marketing and communication strategies and products. The department cultivates relationships through meaningful interaction with a diverse Southern Maryland community.

Our Offices

Marketing Services ensures that CSM’s messaging reaches and resonates with the members of our community. We can assist with: development of content strategy and communications plans; social media; list management; market research; advertising; project management; and more. Submit a Marketing Request

The CRE team produces marketing materials to support all areas of the college with a special emphasis on brand management, recruitment and enrollment efforts, program offerings, and special events.

Examples of print and digital pieces include: program brochures, direct mail, posters, fliers, signage, brochures, logos, booklets, invitations, event support materials, emails, newsletters, landing pages, course schedules, etc.

We also provide CSM branded templates for departmental use for smaller projects (signage, posters, PowerPoint presentations, and fliers) and training to educate staff and faculty regarding best practices. The graphic design and production process begins with a marketing project request or a marketing meeting depending on the scope of the project.

The Web Team maintains the college’s main website and other associated websites. The Web Team manages the administration of many web services, including the college's content management system, online calendar, online catalog, and interactive campus maps, as well as monitoring and reporting website analytics as part of quality assurance, accessibility, and digital marketing campaigns. Communications and Media Relations strategically promotes goodwill, enhances the image of the college and develops strong and mutually beneficial relationships with college stakeholders. COM's initiatives advance the college through advocacy, community engagement, public relations, media relations, social media, photography, cable television, and the communication of emergency closings and crisis situations.

Working with Us

The Marketing and Communications Department uses Lytho Workflow (formerly InMotion Ignite), a cloud-based project management system, to manage and track all requests. The system is easy to use and allows a requestor to track project status at every stage. The system also provides real time, collaborative feedback and approvals on proofs, and stores final files all in one place. Note: the first time you use the system, you will have to create an account using your CSM email address.

Branding Guidelines

CSM’s identity standards and guidelines were developed to ensure the creation of high-quality materials that consistently reflect the image and values of the college.
