Children's Theatre performance

Children and families can experience the theater right here at CSM! With performances that highlight fanciful wishes and adventures, kick start your child’s love of theater and the stage. We often add weekday matinees to the schedule to allow schools and home-school groups to see the performances, which are held at the La Plata Campus, Fine Arts Center, Brad and Linda Gottfried Theater.

CSM offers theater workshops and classes for kids through the CSM Kids' and Teen College.

Set in nineteenth-century Switzerland, this classic tale of horror and suspense details the ill-fated experiments of young Dr. Frankenstein as he attempts to fathom the secrets of life and death. Purchasing cadavers from two unsavory grave robbers, he give life to a creature both hideous and touching—and so physically powerful and mentally twisted that he soon brings death or destruction to all who stand in his way. Adhering more closely to the original novel than did the famous motion picture versions, the play blends moments of brooding terror and sudden shock with questions of morality and the dangers of unrestrained scientific inquiry.

Mr. Eugene Remy, a school teacher, comes up with the brilliant idea to teach during Black History Month. Remy's mother would tell him folk tales when he was a child. Through this method of storytelling, he wanted to share with his class the stories of Br'er Rabbit! He divides his class into groups of three and assigns each group a story to act out and perform. The children's imagination comes to life as Br'er Rabbit and his crew jumps off the page and onto the stage! A comedy that will sure to leave you laughing. The shows runtime is approximately 70 minutes. Appropriate for all ages!
