But first, FAFSA.

As a credit student, you must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each academic year for all federal student and parent loan programs, need-based grants, the Federal Work-study program, and some need-based scholarships.  Even if you don't believe you will qualify for aid, we urge you to complete the FAFSA.

  • The priority deadline for CSM assistance is March 1.
  • Federal school code for CSM: 002064.

Complete Your FAFSA NOW

What Now?

If you're new to CSM, you need to first apply for admission. After you receive your admissions letter via email, you can login to my.CSMD using your new my.CSMD username and password. You can monitor your Financial Aid status on my.CSMD.

The Student Aid Report (SAR) is the result of the FAFSA and indicates your potential eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant and other types of assistance. Check your SAR for accuracy, and see if CSM's Title IV Federal code is listed on it as a school that will receive your application.

When the above three steps have been completed and all forms received, your application is evaluated and notified by mail of any action to be taken. This may include a process called Verification.

Once the FAFSA is complete, our financial aid advisors will begin evaluating your financial profile for scholarship and aid opportunities, and they’ll contact you with any requests for additional documentation.

To check on the status of your financial assistance application, log in to myCSMD, follow the link to Online Services, select Current Students, and click on My Documents under "Financial Assistance" to view documents required.

Verification is the process in which the Department of Education or CSM selects a portion of the school's FAFSA population for review. No Financial Aid can be awarded until this process is completed. You will be notified by mail, email and your myCSMD account of the required documents.
