Regents Scholarships and Grants Number of Awards Criteria


  • Earn a 4.0 grade point average
  • Complete the associate degree
  • Pursue any major leading to the bachelor’s degree at any USM institution


  • Earn a 3.8 grade point average or higher
  • Complete a minimum of 56 credits
  • Demonstrate financial need by submitting FAFSA
  • Pursue any major leading to the bachelor’s degree at any USM institution

Weinberg for Part-Time Student

  • Earn a 4.0 grade point average
  • Complete the associate degree
  • Pursue any major for the bachelor’s degree at any USM institution on a part-time basis
  • Tuition, mandatory fees, small stipend for books and expenses provided


Required Documentation

  1. Scholarship Application
    1. Gross Regents Scholarship 
    2. Part-Time Weinberg Regents Scholarship 
    3. Kelly Regents Scholarship 
  2. Personal Statement of the student’s educational and career goals
  3. Unofficial copies or grade slips from all other colleges and universities attended 
  4. Résumé or listing of the student’s extracurricular and community activities
  5. Evidence of the student’s scholarly and creative activities – limit of two items (can include scanned copies of artwork, photos, creative projects, research papers, published material, honors, awards, etc.)
  6. One or two letters of recommendation from faculty or staff members at the community college

Please submit all the materials above to no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, June 7. 

Please note:

  1. Preference will be given to Maryland residents during the scholarship selection process.
  2. Students must submit the FAFSA to be considered for any of the Kelly Regents Scholarships or Grants.

Students who intend to begin in the spring are expected to meet all application requirements by the regular deadline.

The student should apply as if they were going to graduate in May. The student must maintain the GPA requirement in the fall and then they can enroll in a USM Institution in the Spring.

There is no minimum or maximum word count required for the professional and academic goals essay component of the application, but the essay should not exceed two pages.
