Information Systems

Supervisor works with tech to analyze server

In the age of Amazon, Apple, and Google, business and technology are inseparably interconnected, led by visionaries who combine the best of both to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

The Information Systems, AAS program at CSM trains professionals who think, operate, and innovate in both realms. Graduates are equipped to make strategic business decisions that leverage technical advantages and to use technology to support business requirements and improve processes and outcomes.

The Information Systems program combines Information Technology and Business coursework in equal measure.  That integration of the specialties lets them utilize the strengths of each, account for limitations, and realize the full potential of the two combined toward a common purpose.

Students’ IT courses familiarize them with a wide array of concepts, tools and proficiencies, covering hardware, software, databases, programming, systems analysis, project management, and data analytics.

The Business component of the program grounds them in fundamentals of the discipline, including business communication, marketing, economics, accounting, and business strategy.

The associate degree program culminates in a capstone or co-op learning experience: a semester-long project they develop and carry out, synthesizing what they’ve learned and applying it to real-world scenarios.

Graduates emerge from the program not only with their Associate in Applied Sciences, attesting to their knowledge and skills, but with a professional portfolio that demonstrates their ability to put their expertise to effective use.
