HSP-6000 Business of Bartending

Designed from the bartender, the customer, and the manager's point of view, this course will prepare you to work as a bartender in all types of establishments, while learning the business side of the beverage industry. Learn to be a great salesperson, a customer service expert, and an honest and valuable employee. The lessons taught are extremely beneficial to managers, wait staff, and the novice bartenders. The Business of Bartending will leave you with a thorough understanding of how the bar business works, the ethics of serving cocktails, and a common sense approach to bartending. Though liquor is not used in class, you will be taught some of the most popular recipes and given the tools to practice making drinks at home! Other covered topics include glassware, tools, pouring the perfect shot using a no-count method, bar terms, wine and champagne service, high-volume sales techniques, laws, responsible beverage service, resumes and the job interview. In addition to class lectures, tests, and activities, you will be given online and practice assignments. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate in the Business of Bartending as well as a TIPS (Training for Intervention) certification card. HSP-5020 Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS)

TIPS (On-Premise) teaches servers, sellers, and consumers of alcohol, how to prevent intoxication, drunk driving, and underage drinking. This course is designed for servers at restaurants, bars, hotels, or any establishment where alcohol is consumed on the premises. You will learn strategies for serving alcohol responsibly, while providing the best customer service. At the end of the program, the trainer will administer a multiple-choice exam that is sent to Health Communications, Inc., for grading and record-keeping. Students who pass the exam will receive a certification card for this program which is valid for four years in Maryland.
