Focus on Your Future—Think Transfer

It is never too early to start planning your future. In fact, transferring to a four-year college or university is the plan for many CSM students. If earning a bachelor’s degree—and saving $29,000 in the process—is a part of your plan, check out the resources below:

Pre-Transfer Fair Workshop
Are you interested in attending the upcoming Transfer Fair at your campus? Don’t know what to ask the admissions representatives? This workshop will prepare you with actions you can take before, during, and after the fair to make the most out of the event. Get the “five must-ask questions” for transfer admissions reps and other tips to make this a successful first step in your transfer plan!

Transfer Success Academy
With CSM’s Transfer Success Academy, you can meet and join other transfer students in developing your academic transfer plan to seamlessly graduate and transfer to the school of your choice!

Transfer Fair
If you have no clue where you want to transfer to, and don't have time to visit all of the colleges/universities that are out there, our Transfer Fair is your solution. Join Transfer Services February 21-22 to speak directly with representatives from colleges and universities from across the nation!

TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS

If you want to continue to save money, apply for the scholarships available to our transfer students:

Transfer Awareness Excellence Scholarship
The University of Maryland College Park awards the Transfer Academic Excellence Scholarship (TAES) to a transfer student each fall semester. The scholarship covers full tuition for four consecutive semesters. The deadline to apply is March 1.

Maryland 2+2 Transfer Scholarship
The Maryland Higher Education offers the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship to Maryland transfer students. Qualifying students may be awarded up to $2,000 annually and the scholarship can be renewed. The deadline to apply is August 31.

UMUC Completion Scholarship
With the Completion Scholarship, the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) offers Maryland transfer students the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree at a significantly reduced cost without completing a separate application.

UMBC Transfer Student Alliance (TSA) Program
Receive guaranteed admissions after you’ve completed 12-35 credits with a 3.0 GPA. You may also be concurrently enrolled at a 25% tuition discount for one UMBC course per semester. Students who graduate with an associate’s degree and a minimum 3.5 GPA will receive a $1,500 merit scholarship for each of the two years of full-time study, priority advising and registration, and guaranteed on-campus housing in the upper-class student housing community. For more information, contact James Spence, Assistant Director of Transfer Services at jamess@csmd.edu.

Spring Forward with Accelerated Courses

 Spring Forward with Accelerated Courses

Are you interested in graduating sooner? Add a 12-week Session or Minisession II course to your current course load! These accelerated sessions will help you spring forward on your degree completion. The 12-week Session starts February 19, and Minisession II starts April 2. The last day to register for either session is three days after the start of class. Prevent the Spread of the Flu

Prevent the Spread of the Flu

The flu is reported as being widespread in most of the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the number of states experiencing “high” influence activity has increased to 32 states, including Maryland, with flu activity likely to continue for several more weeks.

Since the flu can be spread easily from person to person, CSM has updated its policies in keeping with CDC guidelines to help prevent the spread of flu on our campuses.

CSM is adopting the same approach for students as with all CSM employees — zero tolerance.

Any CSM employee or student who is exhibiting flu-like symptoms should not come to campus. We will be requiring anyone reporting to work or to a classroom with these symptoms to leave immediately.

Library Closure

Library Closure

Due to the limited use of the college's libraries on Saturdays, effective with the Spring 2018 Semester, CSM's libraries are closed on Saturdays. However, CSM's library resources remain available online at any hour of the day or night. Access to these databases is available to students through my.CSMD or by using the link for "Off-Campus Database Access."

Additionally, students who are seeking a quiet place to study or library resources may want to consider visiting one of the 11 public library branches located across Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties, with each of them available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
