HawkTalk - April 2018 Edition

Register Now for Summer Classes

Hawk Hint

Planning to drop a course? April 4 is the last day to drop a course for the regular spring semester. Don’t forget: dropping courses can affect your financial aid or veteran’s benefits.

Register Now for Summer Classes

Are you hoping to stay on track for graduation or to graduate early? If your major has 60 required credits, you must take 15 credits during each spring and fall semester for two years. If you’d prefer to take 12 credits per semester, you may be able to make up the credits in the summer and still graduate on time. The pace for each Summer Session is accelerated, so it’s best to take courses that hold your interest.

Make an appointment with an academic advisor if you need to plan your upcoming summer or fall classes, or if you’re not sure what courses to take next.

Summer Session Dates

  • Summer Session I (6 weeks)
    May 29 – July 8
  • Summer Session II (12 weeks)
    May 29 – August 19
  • Summer Session III (9 weeks)
    June 11 – August 12
  • Summer Session IV (6 weeks)
    July 9 – August 19

Celebrate Community College Month

The College of Southern Maryland is proud to participate in the national recognition of Community College Month during the month of April. The 16 Maryland community colleges have partnered together to highlight the impact and role of Maryland’s community colleges and why it’s important to support them during Community College Month. We hope you will join us in celebrating Maryland’s Sweet 16.

Attention May Graduates!

Attention May Graduates!

The March 15 deadline to walk in the spring Commencement Ceremony has passed, but if you just want to receive your diploma by mail, you must meet with an academic advisor by April 15.
Graduation is not automatic!

Even if you are struggling in one class and not sure you’ll pass, apply anyway! You may just pass! Application is free, quick, and easy. See an academic advisor during a walk-in visit before April 15.

If you applied by the deadline and will participate in Commencement, caps and gowns are sold in the bookstore. More information about Spring graduation can be found in the 2018 Commencement Guide.
