Hawks Assemble!

Hawk Hint

All CSM administrative offices and services will be closed until 1:30 p.m. on August 17 for the annual All-College Convocation. Classes and essential services will operate on a normal schedule.

Hawks Assemble!

So you’ve registered for your first semester, and that’s it for now, right? Not quite! New students can learn all about the CSM campuses and what they offer during New Student Orientation. This event will give new students a chance to learn how to become members of the CSM community and get prepared for success!

New Student Orientation Dates

  • August 27, 4 p.m., La Plata Campus, Fine Arts Center (FA Building)
  • August 28, 4 p.m., Leonardtown Campus, Building A
  • August 30, 4 p.m., Prince Frederick Campus, Building B

The first day of the fall semester is September 4, and now is the time to secure your schedule! Not sure what you need? Do a program evaluation under “View Your Progress” in Student Planning in Online Services. Changing your major? Use the “View a New Program” feature to see how your completed classes fit into the new program. Academic advisors are always ready to help with Student Planning, fall planning, and program changes.

Have you finished one or two semesters? It’s time to meet with an advisor! You will reach a normal mandatory advising hold at registration for your 18th and 36th credit. To get the hold lifted and to ensure you are on track to program completion, meet with an academic advisor. We want to work with you to plan your academic path at CSM and beyond. Plan these appointments early as spring registration opens in October!

2018 Fall Dates

  • Fall Semester (15 weeks)
    September 4 - December 17
  • Fall 12-week Session
    September 24 - December 17
  • Fall Minisession I (7 weeks)
    September 4 - October 22
  • Fall Minisession II (7 weeks)
    October 25 - December 17

Is Your GPA Causing a Registration Hold?

If you have an academic warning or restriction, you will not be able to register using online services or Student Planning. While you are encouraged to bring, desired course numbers and the six-digit section codes from the online schedule, advisors will work with you to develop a plan to improve your GPA and academic standing. STU 1030 Study Skills Lab (1 cr.), is also required, unless previously taken, so consider that in your planning.

An academic advisor will help you register for the classes you want. If you’re not sure what classes to take, talk to an academic advisor before you plan your schedule.

Save Bucks on Books!

Save Bucks on Books!

Don’t run the risk of showing up to class on the first day with the wrong book. Discount book sites do not guarantee you have the right books, and they could be wasting your money. Let the CSM College Store help you find the right book at the right price. And now, we have Amazon Price Match, which allows you to compare the prices to Amazon. If Amazon is cheaper, we’ll refund you the difference!

Terms and conditions apply.

Ensure First-Year Success

Ensure First-Year Success

Does your major require a First Year Seminar (FYS) course? If so, it must be included in your first semester. The course will help you transition to college life and help ensure that you reach your academic goals!

Check out the online catalog to see if your program of study requires FYS, or see an advisor for more information.
