Get Involved Beyond the Classroom

Get Involved Beyond the Classroom

Join the Club
Engineering students who want opportunities to further their future careers can join the Engineering Club. Call Jehnell C. Linkins at 301-934-7747 or e-mail tsem@csmd.edu for more information.

Student Life
Getting involved in student life gets you way beyond the classroom and gives you a sense of community on campus. If you’d like to help plan activities for the student body, join the Student Activities Committee to assist in planning and coordinating student events/activities on the Leonardtown Campus. Contact Student Life Coordinator Jennifer VanCory at jlvancory@csmd.edu or 240-725-5410.

The Student Government Associations at all three campuses are welcoming back students on September 3 and 4. Later in the month, CSM’s Traveling Fall Festival is coming to each campus. This exciting event turns campus grounds into a giant festival: it will be at the Prince Frederick Campus on September 17, La Plata Campus on September 18, and Leonardtown Campus on September 19. You can get all the details on the calendar, or through the CSM App.

Stay Connected On and Off-Campus

Stay Connected On and Off-Campus

There are two apps that should be on the phones of every student: CSM Safe and CSM Mobile.

The CSM Mobile app is perfect for credit students who want to communicate with each other and keep up with what’s happening on campus. An events calendar keeps you informed and discussion boards keep you connected with clubs, activities, and fellow students.

CSM Safe is a product of the Public Safety and Preparedness department. It provides students, faculty, and staff with added safety on campus by sending important safety alerts and offering instant access to campus safety resources.

The app can get you to Public Safety and local law enforcement for the CSM area in case of an emergency or a non-emergency concern. You can report safety or security concerns right to Public Safety, and even let friends know you’re OK if there’s an emergency. The app also gives you instant access to notifications and instructions from Public Safety if there is an on-campus emergency, and has emergency plans that you can access even when you don’t have Wi-Fi or cellular data.

Download both of our apps today so you can stay connected.

Anyone with an academic warning or restriction cannot register themselves using online services or Student Planning. You will be able to plan the classes then see an advisor. Advisors will work with you to develop a plan to improve your GPA and academic standing then register you for your classes. STU 1030 Study Skills Lab (1 cr.) is also required, unless previously taken, so consider that as you plan your semester.

Save Bucks on Books

Save Bucks on Books

Don’t show up to the first day of class with the wrong book. Discount book sites do not guarantee you have the right books, and they might be wasting your money. Let the CSM College Store help you find the right book at the right price. And now, we have Amazon Price Match, allowing you to compare our prices to Amazon. If Amazon is cheaper, we’ll refund you the difference!

Terms and conditions apply.

Digital Books
For some courses, the Direct Digital Access Program offers direct access to your course materials through myLearning, powered by Desire2Learn (D2L) Brightspace. With this program, students pay a fee during registration which provides digital access to their course materials a week before classes start. The idea is to offer more affordable course materials, plus make the student experience better.

Learn more on the College Store website.

Get the Support You Need

Get the Support You Need

If you had an IEP or 504 plan in high school, there may be services here at CSM. Disability Support Services helps remove barriers that could limit opportunities and works to provide equal access to all of our students. Contact Disability Support Services to see if you’re eligible for services. Returning students also need to submit a request for accommodations. Requests should be made six weeks before the semester starts.

If you have questions, call Disability Support Services at 301-539-4720 or visit the website.

Creative Designers Wanted!

Creative Designers Wanted!

Now that the theater in the Fine Arts Center has a new name, it needs a new plaque. CSM students are invited to participate in a competition to design and create a plaque to recognize our generous donors, CSM President Emeritus Brad Gottfried and Linda Gottfried, for naming the theater.

Check out the details of the competition online, and get your creative mind going.
