Give Blood, Save Lives! Blood Drive August 25 at Prince Frederick

Donate blood and help save lives! The CSM Student Government Association (SGA) is proud to partner with the Red Cross to host a blood drive at the Prince Frederick Campus.  The drive is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be held in Building B, Rooms 103-105.

To participate, you must schedule an appointment to donate blood! For safety, any potential donors without an appointment will be turned away.

Blood Drive in August

In addition to the highest standards of safety and infection control, the Red Cross has implemented additional precautions due to COVID-19. Please note that all donors will be required to have their temperature checked prior to entering the building. During the donation process all donors must wear masks  (please bring and use your own if available); use hand sanitizer; and maintain physical distancing.   Guests and minor children of donors will not be able to attend the drive.

All blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative, and B negative.  Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished.  SGA's goal for this blood drive is to schedule 81 donors.

For more information or to make an appointment to donate, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or sign up online.

During the month of July, members of the college community accepted and participated in the CSM 30-Day Justice Challenge. Each day for thirty days, participants spent at least eight minutes and forty-eight seconds engaging with the critical and growing need to address anti-Black racism and systemic inequities in all aspects of our society. The thirty days are up, but the work to create a more just nation—for ourselves, for our neighbors, and for future generations—carries on.

Challenge yourself to play a more active part in building and sustaining a community of infinite, breathtaking diversity that celebrates our differences. It’s a tall order, but each of us has to start somewhere. You can use the CSM 30-Day Justice Challenge as a starting point, and take advantage of the library of Racial Education Resources to continue improving yourself and your community.

Racial Justice Education Resources

Racial Justice Education Resources

Social transformation begins with personal growth. CSM has compiled a library of links and resources to further expand education beyond the syllabus. We hope that members of our college community will take full advantage of this opportunity to broaden their perspective in the midst of the public debate over social inequity and systemic racism in the United States.

Advising and Counseling

Counseling Services and Mental Health | CSM College Survival Guide

The College Survival Guide is a monthly feature that directs members of the CSM community to free resources and support for whatever challenges they may be facing. At CSM, no hawk has to fly alone.

FEELING OVERWHELMED? ISOLATED? YOU’RE NOT ALONE. Stress might be a normal part of life, but there’s not much in 2020 that’s been even remotely normal. It’s okay if you’re not feeling okay. The important thing to remember is that you’re not alone. You’re a member of a community, and we’re here to support one another as we face whatever comes next—together

CSM Counseling Services are available to help students navigate and overcome a host of obstacles and personal struggles. Make your appointment at www.csmd.edu/counseling.
