Study Rooms (La Plata Only)

Students at the La Plata Campus can reserve small study rooms, 200A or 200B, in the Learning Resource Center (LR building).  The rooms seat 2-8 students and are reserved by calling the
library at 301-934-7626 or by coming to the circulation desk in the library (LR 207).

Group Study Rooms Policy & Procedures

About Group Study Rooms

  • Group Study Rooms are for the exclusive use of currently registered College of Southern Maryland students for course related purposes only.
  • Study rooms are intended for groups of two or more. Space for single study is available in the library (LR207) or learning lab (ST100).
  • Group Study Rooms must be reserved before use. Advance or walk-in reservations can be made at the circulation desk in the library (LR207).  You will need your CSM ID card
    to make a reservation.
  • Group Study Rooms may not be used for anything other than group study.  Exclusions include, but are not limited to:  social gatherings, clubs, organizations, staff or departmental business meetings, or faculty office hours.
  • Study Rooms are available for College of Southern Maryland students on a first come, first served basis.
  • Room users without reservations will be asked to leave until they can make a reservation.

Policies For Student Use

  • The College of Southern Maryland is not responsible for personal possessions left in rooms.
  • Leaving unattended items in an unscheduled room does not constitute use and others having reservations may use the room.
  • Furniture, markers, erasers, and cleaning materials may not be removed from the rooms.
  • No eating or drinking is allowed in the rooms.  Students are responsible for keeping
    the rooms clean and tidy.
  • Noise should be kept to a minimum.  Noisy groups will be asked to leave.
  • Violators of any policy will be ejected from the study room and excluded from further access for the remainder of the semester.
  • Report any issues, scheduling disputes, or abuse of facilities to the library circulation desk (LR207) or by calling 301-934-7626.

Room Reservations

  • Bookings may be made up to 1 week in advance at the library circulation desk
  • Each group can make two, one-hour reservations per day.
  • If plans change, a group member should cancel the reservation by calling 301-934-7626 or by appearing in person at the library circulation desk.
  • Study rooms are available (subject to the above policies) on a first come, first served basis.
  • Anyone who is using the room without a reservation will be required to complete a reservation or will be asked to leave.
  • If a group does not show up within 10 minutes of reservation time, library staff can cancel the reservation, and the room may be given to another group.
