Student Success Services

The College of Southern Maryland provides a comprehensive system of student support services.  These services include peer and online tutoring, skills improvement software, and testing.
Student gets tutoring help

FREE tutoring is offered to currently enrolled College of Southern Maryland students in a variety of subjects including English, math, and biology. In addition to face-to-face tutoring, online tutoring services in the areas of math, writing, ESL, accounting, economics, and chemistry are available in cooperation with Smarthinking. ThinkingStorm, an additional online tutoring service, offers tutoring in math and chemistry as well as an online writing center. The tutoring on campus is walk-in, no appointment necessary. All CSM students are invited to attend any workshop they find valuable to their academic success, free of charge.

Learning Labs on all three campuses offer computers with internet capabilities, academic software access, textbook resources, and group study areas.  Academic tutoring and general student success resources are also located in this center. Learn more.

Nursing students

The Director of Health Sciences Program Outreach is responsible for guiding and directing students in the Health Sciences programs in their educational and career paths. Specifically, the Director of Health Sciences Program Outreach assists preclinical students in identifying and accessing services necessary to support student success and acts as a mentor and advisor. Students are provided with information about the petition process, the ATI TEAS test including test registration, preparation materials and test-taking strategies, financial aid and scholarships, assistance in course planning, etc.  Additionally, Academic Advisors at any campus are available to assist you. Learn more on our website.

Beyond tutoring, testing, access to the Learning Lab and self-help materials, and the Kick Off to College program, the Student Success Center offers diagnostic testing, workshops, and College Success Skills courses to help you set and reach your academic goals.
