Tech Prep is a means to begin a technical course of study while in high school. Tech Prep courses are taught in the high school and can be applied toward college credit. In a Tech Prep program, a high school student can begin his or her course of study in high school and continue to the College of Southern Maryland. These courses coordinate high school and community college programs, assuring that graduates acquire the technical knowledge and skills required in today's complex workplace for a particular program. Tech Prep students complete a planned sequence of courses in high school and if a student completes his or her program is awarded a certificate or associate degree in a career field.
Take Tech Prep classes to earn college credits while you're still in high school and earn credits for FREE, while getting ahead of other students starting college. You may combine Tech Prep with CSM's Dual/Concurrent Enrollment program to really get ahead in college and save money!
The Tech Prep program was started by the U.S. Department of Eduation through the Perkins Grant.
High school students in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties can participate in Tech Prep. You can begin taking Tech Prep courses in your sophomore year of high school, which will be completed by the end of your senior year.
