 ***DEFENSIVE DRIVING***

Did you know that Southern Maryland has the highest young driver crash rate in Maryland?

CSM is committed to providing young drivers training to decrease the teen crash and death rate in Southern Maryland.  Two new programs are being introduced in fall 2008.

Alive at 25:  Behavior Modification focuses on behavior modifications for participants to adopt safer driving practices and make better decisions.

Car Control and Defensive Driving Skills provides students with the defensive driver and car control skills to avoid accidents.

OCC 7420   Alive at 25:  Behavior Modification - $55

Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for young adults ages 16-24.  Out of 60,000 Colorado students who completed the Alive at 25 program, the program reduced deaths from crashes by 97%!  Alive at 25 is a highly interactive, behavior modification program delivered by law enforcement.  Through interaction and role-play, students are persuaded to take responsibility for their actions, adopt safe practices, focus on healthy decision making, and to form their own conclusions about the consequences of risky driving behaviors.  Alcohol, distractions, peer pressure, speed factors and more are discussed.

OCC 7490  Car Control and Defensive Driving Skills - $ 169

Florida Motor Vehicle Administration research shows that the New Driver Control Clinic students have 77% fewer car crashes than their peers.  Develop defensive driver skills and accident avoidance maneuvers. Parents and students participate in both classroom and hands-on behind the wheel training on a skid pad. Safety practices, wet weather driving, brake, steering, and eye management in defensive driving situations are emphasized.  Parents must accompany students and provide their own vehicle for hands-on behind the wheel training. To register for the Car Control and Defensive Driving Skills course, students will go directly to www.carcontrol.com/mdva.htm.  For more information, they should call 1-800-862-3277.
