In recognition of October being Disability Employment Awareness Month, Join the Diversity Institute in the Documentary Screening and discussion of "When I Walk"; Jason DaSilva’s hard-hitting record of his daily battle with primary-progressive multiple sclerosis is really an exploration of creeping immobility.
From the moment his legs gave way during a 2006 Caribbean vacation, to the film’s improbably upbeat 2012 conclusion, Mr. DaSilva, a successful documentary filmmaker and just 25 when he received his diagnosis, ruthlessly chronicled his disarmingly rapid decline.
Our discussion on multiple sclerosis will be led by Laura Polk, Chair of the Health Science Division at the College of Southern Maryland.
The Diversity Institute would like to thank all who attended the Unity in OUR Community Diversity Forum on Saturday April 12, 2014 at North Point High School, Waldorf, MD.
