Good Fight of Faith Evangelist Ministries is a 501(c)(3) community outreach nonprofit that mainly serves Southern Maryland’s homeless and food-insecure populations. The organization was established in Arizona in 2012 and incorporated in Maryland in 2019.

The nonprofit’s mission is to foster standards of care and dignity for humanity. Its vision is to be a resource for Southern Maryland’s underserved communities. It does this by providing services to people who are experiencing homelessness, hunger, and mental health challenges. The organization seeks to heal individuals by helping reduce the economic systemic imbalance in Southern Maryland’s diverse cultures. The nonprofit’s goal is to increase its number of partnerships and foster collaborative efforts with other organizations that provide resources beyond those offered by Good Fight of Faith Evangelist Ministries. Such resources include rapid rehousing for homeless families, behavioral health services, and employment opportunities.

The nonprofit’s White Plains Community Outreach Center houses the food pantry, clothing closet, and the offices of the organization’s main partners. Many of the nonprofit’s services are supported by the collaborative efforts and donations of in-kind and principal partners. They are also supported by county grants and personal sponsors.

The organization’s food pantry distributes donated food every month, which is free for people in need. The distributions occur every third Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and every third Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Anyone who needs food in emergency cases can contact the nonprofit at 1-800-652-5404.

Many of the nonprofit’s efforts to provide food, clothing, toys, and household items to Southern Maryland’s communities are accomplished through the organization’s primary partners. Givepointe Inc. and Southern Maryland Food Bank are two of those partners. The main partners give donations, resources, and time on a weekly basis. Their contributions have made a positive impact in serving the most vulnerable populations within Southern Maryland.

Good Fight of Faith Evangelist Ministries also collaborates with Share Food Network to run a program that helps alleviate the negative economic impact caused by rising food costs, which are a source of hardship for many middle-class working families. Many families have had to reduce the amount of food that they purchase when grocery shopping. Many families who previously received EBT and SNAP benefit cuts have also struggled to make food last in between months. The Share Food Network provides value prices that let clients purchase food at an affordable price. Clients can buy the food by using cash, credit or debit cards, and their EBT and SNAP benefits. The program involves a monthly purchase for many of the same items found in grocery stores. The food is just as fresh, but much lower in cost. Every month, Good Fight of Faith Evangelist Ministries posts a flyer on its Facebook page that displays a value package. The value package includes a variety of meats, vegetables, and fruits for sale.

“I can’t believe that I was allowed to shop for our food, and food is not pre-bagged.” – Food pantry client

Good Fight of Faith Evangelist Ministries has participated in several events within the Southern Maryland community. For example, the nonprofit held a community meet and greet as its official introduction to Charles County. The organization distributed meats, produce, and non-perishable items to over 250 families that day. The nonprofit has also been a vendor at the Black Family Wellness Expo, the Ivy & Pearls Southern Maryland Community Charities’ Community Fair, and an event held by the Charles County Health Department.

Additionally, Good Fight of Faith Evangelist Ministries has interacted with the community online by extending its outreach to parenting websites and Facebook marketplace. The nonprofit used this approach to invite more of the community to its monthly food distributions. The word spread quickly, which resulted in several new families and their relatives being able to access the services provided by the nonprofit.
