A Pharmacy Technician assists a pharmacist by counting tablets, labeling bottles, and performing other routine tasks. With further training, technicians can go on to become pharmacists who distribute prescription drugs to individuals. They also advise their patients, as well as physicians and other health practitioners, on the selection, dosages, interactions, and side effects of medications.


Pharmacy Technician

A Pharmacy Technician may measure, mix, and count tablets. The Pharmacy Technician may record amounts and dosages of medications, maintain medication inventory, and may accept prescriptions for filling by the pharmacist.


Students must successfully complete three WorkKeys Assessment tests given in the CSM Testing Center.  Students must pass with a minimum of U4 in Reading, U4 in Locating Info and 5 in Applied Mathematics.  For information on registering for this assessment, please visit
