The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) voted June 27, 2024 to fully reaffirm College of Southern Maryland’s (CSM) accreditation through 2032. This accreditation demonstrates CSM’s excellence in maintaining high-quality educational integrity and standards for its students.

CSM Appoints Valarie Burks as Vice President of Division of Information Management and Technology

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) announces CSM Associate Vice President of Information Management and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Valarie Burks was promoted to Vice President of the newly formed Division of Information Management and Technology (IMT). The establishment of the Division of Information Management and Technology – which separates the Information Management Department from the Division of Operations and Planning – highlights the importance of CSM’s strategic focus on digital transformation, IT governance, emerging technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity.

Gift to CSM Archives Celebrates Alumna Margaret Mary Hampton from College’s First Nurse Graduation Class

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) recently received extraordinary gifts from the estate of CSM alumna Margaret Mary Hampton as overseen by her daughter Carol Zadeh, of Waldorf. Hampton passed away in February and was among the very first Charles County Community College (former CSM) nursing graduation class, even serving as the student representative commencement speaker.

As a 68-year-old retiree attending the College of Southern Maryland, going to college with Generation Z was a new and challenging experience in my life, since I am a Baby Boomer. The Veterans Lounge is an area where I could come to campus early and study for class before it started during the day or evening. It is a place for making a connection with other veterans and acknowledging that we are not alone. There are other veterans like us who are going through similar experiences, overcoming obstacles, embracing positive outcomes for hospitalization and rehabilitation, and finding pathways through their lives today.

CSM Announces 2024 Spring Semester Dean’s List

May 28, 2024

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) has released its dean’s list for the 2024 spring sessions. Students who have earned 12 or more credits at CSM are eligible to be considered for the dean’s list. At the end of the fall, spring, and summer sessions, full- and part-time students who have completed at least six credits during the semester and have earned a term grade point average of 3.5 or better will be included on the dean’s list.

CSM Faculty Welcomes 59 Graduates to Nursing Profession at Pinning Ceremony

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) celebrated its time-honored graduation ceremonies in front of a packed house during its 65th Spring Commencement May 10. The college celebrated 449 candidates for graduation for earning 367 degrees and 111 certificates during three commencement ceremonies marked with laughter, cheers and applause.

Thirteen CSM Students Get Down to Business; Join Kappa Beta Delta Honor Society

Thirteen College of Southern Maryland (CSM) business students, including seven Early College students in the Business Management program, were recently celebrated as they were inducted into the Kappa Beta Delta Honor Society during a ceremony held at the Regional Hughesville campus April 23. The international society invites students to join Delta Phi – CSM’s chapter of Kappa Beta Delta – because they are in the top 20 percent of their class.
