Kids' & Teen College at Velocity Center

Give your child a summer of creativity, curiosity, and hands-on learning at the Velocity Center at Indian Head, where students ages 7–10 can explore engineering, robotics, coding, and creative arts—now with limited scholarships covering 80% of tuition, making these enriching experiences more accessible for families.

Classes Offered

Elementary LEGO® Engineering for Kids

July 6-10, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Cost: $195

This exciting hands-on engineering class uses LEGO® Education building materials. Teams will learn the basics of engineering and simple machines. You will be introduced to the concepts of pulleys, levers, gears, and more. From this foundation, move on to compound machines, motorized vehicles, and robotic creations. You will also get a chance to put your new knowledge to work creating your own mechanized design. Teams will creatively solve challenges using concepts learned in class. Last, but not least, you will get the chance to become an inventor. Light and sound sensors, pulleys, wheels, levers, and gears are all at your command. This class is collaborative, and students will work in teams for most of the program. Offered in partnership with Goldsmith Education.

STEM Robotics and Coding: LEGO® WeDo 2.0

Explore the exciting world of STEM Robotics and Coding in this innovative and hands-on course designed to inspire students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Come learn how to program motors and sensors to work and build multiple robotic creations. Students will develop skills in coding and reasoning, bringing LEGO® builds to life with their programs. By working in teams, students will use the programming design presented as a base for coding and move beyond to create their designs. Offered in conjunction with Goldsmith Education.

STEM Academy with Creative Arts

Through a series of engaging and interactive activities, the STEM Academy with Creative Arts will delve into the core principles of STEM disciplines while nurturing a student's innate artistic talents. This innovative academy offers an exhilarating fusion of hands-on scientific exploration, technological discovery, and imaginative artistic expression.
