'Round Midnight is a barbershop quartet with a unique style. It demonstrates how close harmony can be applied to different musical genres such as R&B, pop, jazz, rock, and Broadway.
'Round Midnight has been thrilling audiences for nearly two decades with its one-of-a-kind style. The quartet has been featured in an array of showcases, contests, and master classes for students from kindergarten through university (and beyond) in North America and Europe.
The quartet is a three-time Top 10 World Finalist in the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) International Barbershop Quartet Contest. The group has received praise for its recording efforts too, garnering multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award (CARA) nominations.
Dubbed "The Barbershop Gateway Drug" by contemporary a cappella guru Deke Sharon (Music Director - "Pitch Perfect" film series), ‘Round Midnight has earned accolades from various a cappella organizations including CASA, Varsity Vocals, Harmony Sweepstakes, and BHS.
In its advocacy for music education, ‘Round Midnight was appointed as an "Arts Envoy" group by the U.S. State Department.
Note:
There will be a workshop with youth during the day before the annual barbershop show at 7:30 pm. Youths can find out about participating in the workshop by contacting Paul Douglass at pwgouglass@csmd.edu.
Music performances take place at the La Plata Campus, Fine Arts Center, Brad and Linda Gottfried Theater. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 seniors/military with ID/youth of high school age and below/CSM students and staff with ID, unless otherwise noted. One ticket per ID.
