Faculty Recital: Stephen Johnson and Friends, ‘Musical Minimalism’
September 26 | 7:30 p.m.
Dr. Stephen Johnson, professor of music, and several of his music colleagues will present an evening of works that can be described as “minimalist,” that is, works that employ a minimum of music materials such as melody, harmony, rhythm, texture, or choice of instruments. Featured composers will include Philip Glass, Steven Reich, Erik Satie, and Gavin Bryars, among others. Be prepared to see what little is required to perform a piece of music that can captivate an audience!
